Longhorn Cavern Wedding | Tyler & Sarah
Tyler and Sarah’s Longhorn Cavern wedding was one of the most unique celebrations I’ve had the opportunity to photograph in Central Texas! Tucked beneath the surface in the natural beauty of Longhorn Cavern in Burnet, Texas, their intimate micro wedding was centered around what mattered most to them: celebrating with their closest friends and family in a setting that felt completely different from a traditional wedding venue.
As their Austin wedding photographer, I was honored to have the opportunity to document a day that felt so personal — and the chance to capture their day in the caverns is one I’ll never forget.
Preparing for an Intimate Micro Wedding
From the beginning, Tyler and Sarah knew they wanted their wedding day to feel different. Both naturally shy and not particularly interested in being the center of attention, they chose to keep their guest list small and focus on creating a meaningful experience with the people they love most.
Sarah wore a beautiful white dress that perfectly matched the relaxed feel of the day, while Tyler kept things classic in a black tux.
When planning their wedding, they intentionally looked for a setting outside the norm. Rather than choosing a traditional ballroom, ranch, or chapel, they wanted a location that would create lasting memories not only for themselves but for everyone attending. And having experienced their celebration at Longhorn Cavern, I would say they nailed their venue selection!
Longhorn Cavern Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony took place deep inside Longhorn Cavern, one of the most unique wedding venues in the Austin area.
Surrounded by towering rock formations and the natural textures of the cavern walls, the space created an atmosphere unlike anything else. The warm spring afternoon outside contrasted beautifully with the dramatic setting underground, making the ceremony feel even more special.
With only a select group of family and friends present, the ceremony felt incredibly personal. Every guest was there because they played an important role in Tyler and Sarah’s lives, and the love and support in the room was impossible to miss.
For couples looking for a truly memorable wedding, it's hard to imagine a more unique ceremony setting than Longhorn Cavern!
Longhorn Cavern Wedding Portraits
After the ceremony, we explored the cavern for portraits, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the day.
Photographing inside Longhorn Cavern allowed me to create images that feel completely different from my usual work. The natural rock formations, dramatic textures, and unique lighting conditions created endless opportunities for creative portraits.
One of the reasons Tyler and Sarah chose this venue was because they wanted something memorable. Their portraits perfectly reflected that vision. Every corner of the cavern offered a new backdrop, and the final images felt unlike anything you would find at a traditional wedding venue.
The grounds of Longhorn Cavern State Park are also beautifully maintained, so we were sure to stroll around and take some above-ground portraits as well!
As a photographer, I genuinely love opportunities that push me to create something new, and this Longhorn Cavern wedding delivered exactly that.
Why They Chose Longhorn Cavern
What stood out most about Tyler and Sarah’s day was how intentionally they planned every aspect of it.
They weren't interested in following wedding traditions simply because they were expected. Instead, they focused on creating an experience that felt authentic to them. Choosing a cavern for their ceremony gave them the intimate atmosphere they wanted while also providing their guests with a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
Tyler and Sarah found me through Google and connected with my approach because they wanted a photographer who would help them feel comfortable and natural throughout the day. Since they weren't used to being in front of a camera, creating a relaxed experience was especially important.
Looking back, this wedding remains one of the most memorable celebrations I've photographed. Between the incredible ceremony location, the small guest count, and the unbelievable portraits we created inside the cavern, it was a day that perfectly reflected who Tyler and Sarah are as a couple!
