10 Unique Wedding Venues in Austin

Newlyweds cross street in downtown Austin TX

Your wedding day is one of the most important moments of your one-of-a-kind love story, so you probably want a venue that fits the bill, no? From ballrooms and barns to mansions and museums, we are so blessed to have so many options here in Texas Hill Country. As an Austin wedding photographer, I’ve been fortunate to capture weddings all across central Texas, and I’m here to help you find the perfect fit for your big day. Here’s a look at my favorite unique wedding venues in Austin, TX.

Villa Antonia

Villa Antonia honestly feels like a little slice of Italy tucked into a quiet corner of Texas Hill Country. Between the stone architecture, balconies, fountains, and hill country views, the whole venue makes you feel like you’ve been transported out of Austin and right into a quaint Italian village. There’s so much character here, and it still takes my breath away every time I get a chance to visit!

Plus, this venue is a photographer’s dream because there truly isn’t a bad spot for photos. The balcony overlooking the hills is definitely a favorite of mine, especially around sunset. I’d recommend Villa Antonia for couples wanting something that feels luxurious, romantic, and completely different from the typical venue style you see everywhere else.

Pro tip: Book early! This venue is super popular and dates tend to go fast.

  • Website: Villa Antonia

  • Address: 19039 Adrian Way, Jonestown, TX 78645

  • Phone: (512) 689-2157

  • Capacity: Up to 250 outdoors; up to 175 indoors

  • On-site Catering: No

Barr Mansion

If you’re looking for an Austin wedding venue with a little history and a lot of flexibility, Barr Mansion is such a good option. The property has multiple indoor and outdoor spaces that all feel really different from one another, so it’s easy to make your big day feel personalized instead of cookie-cutter. Between the historic mansion, greenhouse-style ballroom, gardens, and open-air farmstead space, there are so many ways to customize the flow and feel of the day.

But that’s not even the best part! For me, one of the biggest standouts at Barr Mansion is the food and drink experience. Their organic catering is incredibly well known in Austin, and everything is prepared fresh on-site. From craft cocktails made with fresh ingredients to their in-house cakes and desserts, every part of the guest experience feels really thoughtful.

800 Congress

If you’re looking for a true downtown Austin wedding experience, 800 Congress is such a fun option! Located right on Congress Avenue near the Capitol, this venue fully leans into that modern city vibe. Inside, the exposed brick walls, concrete floors, and huge glass garage doors give the space an industrial feel while still feeling elevated and stylish.

The interior is absolutely gorgeous, but as a wedding photographer, I’d be lying if I didn’t say I love this venue for its location. Between the downtown energy, Capitol views, and the Paramount right across the road, there are so many great spots nearby for wedding portraits.

Pro tip: Definitely have a parking plan ready for guests since downtown Austin parking can get a little chaotic, especially on weekends.

  • Website: 800 Congress

  • Address: 800 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78701

  • Phone: (512) 213-0444

  • Capacity: Up to 300

Camp Lucy

Camp Lucy really feels like the kind of place where you can slow down and fully settle into your wedding weekend. Since there are accommodations, dining, spa experiences, and multiple venues all on the property, guests don’t have to constantly travel around or rush from one event to the next. Everything happens in one place, which creates a much more relaxed and immersive experience for everyone involved.

What I love about Camp Lucy is that every space feels completely different. You could get married beneath the huge oak trees at Sacred Oaks, host a vineyard wedding with wide Hill Country views, or lean into the historic chapel and stone architecture at Ian’s Chapel. It gives couples a lot of flexibility to choose a setting that matches their style instead of trying to force their vision into one standard ballroom space.

  • Address: 3509 Creek Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

  • Phone: (512) 858-4057

Longhorn Cavern

Longhorn Cavern State Park is truly one of the coolest venues I’ve ever seen. If you want your guests to be awe-struck by your ceremony venue, this is the spot. Getting married inside an actual cavern is such a rare experience, and the space feels so cozy and intimate once you’re down there. The natural rock formations and cave lighting make everything feel dramatic, and as a wedding photographer, this is one of my favorite places to capture weddings because the photos always turn out so unique.

This venue is best for couples planning a smaller wedding or elopement since the cavern only allows up to 49 people inside. Since it’s a state park, alcohol isn’t allowed, so a lot of couples will have their ceremony in the cavern and head to a restaurant afterward for dinner and drinks. If you want something that feels completely different from the typical venue, you can’t go wrong with a cavern wedding!

  • Address: 6211 Park Road 4 S, Burnet, Texas 78611

  • Phone: (512) 715-9000

  • Capacity: Up to 49

Cypress Valley Event Center

If unique is the name of your game, it’s hard to beat Cypress Valley. This place feels like something straight out of a movie! Between the treehouses, hanging ceremony platform, creek running through the property, and massive cypress trees, the whole place has an adventurous, tucked-away feeling that you won’t find at a traditional wedding venue. It’s especially perfect for couples wanting their wedding to feel more like a weekend getaway experience instead of a single-day event.

What makes this venue so memorable is how immersed in nature you feel the entire time. You can literally stay overnight in luxury treehouses, host your rehearsal dinner on-site, and spend the weekend celebrating with your closest people all in one place. The ceremony platform suspended between the trees is easily one of the coolest ceremony setups I’ve seen, and when the string lights come on at night, the whole venue feels so cozy and magical.

  • Website: Cypress Valley

  • Address: 1223 Paleface Ranch Rd S, Spicewood, TX 78669

  • Phone: (512) 264-8880

  • Capacity: Up to 125

UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum

UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum is such a peaceful little hidden gem in Austin. The gardens are beautiful year-round, and everywhere you turn there’s another tucked-away pathway, pond, or sculpture that makes the whole space feel really unique. The ceremony arbor is easily one of my favorite spaces at the venue, and the open-air terrace is just magical, especially when lit up later in the evening.

I particularly love this venue for couples who are drawn to both art and nature. The sculptures throughout the gardens give the space so much personality and make portraits feel really different from your typical garden venue. There are so many quiet corners for photos, and the whole property has this calm, intimate feel even though you’re smack dab in the heart of Austin.

  • Website: UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum

  • Address: 605 Azie Morton Rd, Austin, TX 78704

  • Phone: (512) 445-5582

  • Capacity: Up to 250

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

For couples who really want to lean into the natural beauty of Texas, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is an excellent choice. The outdoor courtyard is one of my favorite spaces on the property for receptions, especially once the string lights come on in the evening. Inside, the Great Hall has these huge floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the meadow, so even indoor celebrations still feel really connected to the landscape outside.

For smaller weddings, I highly recommend having your ceremony at Cecille’s Arch. It opens right into the meadow and is surrounded by massive live oak trees, which creates such a peaceful backdrop for vows. Between the native gardens, scenic walking paths, and meadow views, there are so many beautiful spots around the property for portraits too.

Bonus: I love that getting married here comes with complimentary membership for a year, so you can return as many times as you want!

Wrenwood Ranch

Wrenwood Ranch is the kind of place where you can actually slow down and enjoy being with your people instead of feeling rushed through a packed wedding timeline. Since couples get the whole weekend on the property, it feels much more personal and relaxed. From Friday night around the fire pit to slow Sunday morning coffee with family still hanging around in the cottages, it’s so easy to unwind here.

You can also really feel the family-owned heart behind this venue! Keisha is so wonderful to work with, and you can tell how much the team cares about every single wedding on their property. It’s perfect for couples wanting their wedding weekend to feel intentional, cozy, and connected instead of just a quick one-day event.

  • Website: Wrenwood Ranch

  • Address: 6214 US-290, Johnson City, TX 78636

  • Phone: (254) 218-8221

  • Capacity: Up to 150

Ma Maison

As a wedding photographer, I’m not afraid to say that venues like Ma Maison make our jobs so easy. There is beauty in every direction you look, from French-inspired architecture to live oak trees and even a lake right on the property. I love every single ceremony and reception space they have, it’s so hard to pick my favorite!

The Green Cathedral is probably one of the most recognizable spots on the property, especially for couples who love that greenhouse garden wedding style. Between the oak trees, steel greenhouse structure, and all the greenery, it photographs beautifully. I also love how the venue balances outdoor spaces with elegant indoor options like The Great Hall and Chapel, which makes it work really well year-round.

Pro tip: Ma Maison is well worth the 45 minute drive to Dripping Springs, but make sure your guests are aware ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

  • Website: Ma Maison

  • Address: 2550 Bell Springs Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

  • Phone: (512) 777-1642

  • Capacity: Up to 600

  • On-site Catering: No
